I need costly dental work I have insurance but still cant afford to have the work done are there alternatives?

I have insurance and my husband and I both have pretty good jobs. Does anyone know what I can do. I really need to have the work done for cosmetic and health reasons. Someone please help me.

The only alternative is to have the work done a little at a time, or set up a payment plan that you can afford.
Do not go to a cheap doctor. You will get inferior quality and it will cost you more in the long run. Cheap doctors use cheap dental laboratories to cut costs. And most cosmetic cases are sent to a dental laboratory.
As the gentleman stated above, ask the doctor for a payment plan you may be able to afford and do the work incrementally.
You can get greatly reduced rates if you get your dental work at a school of denistry.
If you are having cosmetic dentistry done, chances are your insurance will cover none of it. Most people will find the money to spend on something they really want.

As the person said above, do NOT go cheap on this. I've know people who've traveled to Mexico to get work done - cheap, but no infection control and very little government oversight of dentists. You could get great work, or a raging infection.

There are a couple of payment plans designed for non-insured dental charges - Care Credit and Dental Fee Plan (a division of Capital One). If you have good credit you can apply for a low-interest loan to cover the patient portion of your bill.

If you don't have good credit and don't have the money to pay for this treatment, you should probably not get it done yet. Do the part of the treatment that you actually NEED for health reasons, and postpone the cosmetic stuff until you are in a better financial position.
Have the work done by necessity. Have your dentist give you an opinion on what needs to be done first and go from there. Insurance is helpful but not great. Most insurances max. allotment per year is from 1 to 15 hundred. Not a lot of money when it comes to the expense of dental care. This means that you can prob. get about one crown and build-up paid at about eighty percent, and then you are maxed out for the year. Don't try to rely solely on your insurance for help paying dental care. You will be waiting to get the work done forever. Many of our patients set up a payment plan with an independent company such as Capital one. If you have good credit then this may be the way for you to go. A low interest credit card may be an option. The bottom line is we will pay for what we perceive as a need, and you are obviously concerned about your dental care, so I am sure that you will find a way to pay for it that works for you. Some dentists will take payments others will not. It depends on where you are going.
