Need dental work but no insurance? |
Hello I dont have insurance and I need some dental work as well as vision. Any advise on a good dental benefit plan (not insurance) the discounted cards? I need some gum work, whitening, maybe pull one, and fixing a chip (front tooth). Thanks for all answers I feel your pain. I have always had beautiful teeth but bad genetics put my smile at risk and I was devastated. Some dentists were giving me estimates of $14,000.00! We, (my husband and myself) ended up taking a loan out for $5,000.00 a few years back to complete the work I needed..and that didn't include the bottom teeth! So, I know where you're coming from. You might want to try calling a few of the dental schools in your area. The work is done by the students, but only the ones ready to graduate and an experienced dentist/doctor over sees all of their work. Because they are still students it is done at greatly reduced prices. I've used this myself for several years now and, I'm happy to say, have always been happy with the work I've had done. It may take a little longer to get an appt, and the students take longer than a dentist with experience, but to me it was worth it. Just a thought. Good luck! (As far as vision goes, sorry, I got nothin') Become a Canadian citizen... best thing to do is to visit a few dental offices, they will have listings and advertisements there of plans that they take. This will also give you an idea of what plans are the most above board as a reputable office wont have business relations that may lead to unhappy customers. on the matter of vision, stay away from pearle vision and other chains of the like. Sears and Costco have some of the best non insurance prices. Personal history and I work for a major insurance company to boot. Try dentalplans.com, I use them. The best individual policy is offered by Anthem. You can go to anthem.com to get info, but know that no insurance will cover whitening. The discount cards are not very good and most dentist don't accept them. You can get a credit card thru CareCredit.com and they have programs for 6,12 or 18 months with no financing. Good luck and I hope that helps. Been in dentistry fof 18 years |
