It seems like every time I need something done, a filling, a blood test, whatever, I have to jump through hoops to get things covered by insurance. I mean, if I didn't need it, the doctor would not be recommending it, right? I am so tired of being the go-between for doctors and health insurance companies. I spend days just calling back and forth, why can't they just communicate and cover the things I need? I pay $300 a month for health insurance!
The advent of managed care has been the bane of existence for patients and medical professionals alike for the past several years. Unfortunately, it's likely here to stay. You have to jump through hoops because your paying $300 a month is not like putting it into a medical savings account for you to use. Insurance should be used for expensive things like surgery or cancer or something like that. Of course, you have to jump through hoops otherwise they would need to charge you about $2,000 a month for insurance if they paid for everything and anything you wanted done.
