My dentist started to perform dental work on me covered by the Insurance on 08/06. I was laid off in 11/06.?

Is the Insurance company obligated to pay the dentist for work contracted in August/06, or could they now refuse to pay.

Speak to your insurance company, the chances are that because the course of treatment was started before you were made redundant then it should continue to conclusion.
You may need to check into this as Insurance Companies differ. I worked a company years ago that laid off many people and our insurance was effective for 2 or 3 months (I not remember) after the lay-off.
The Company may be able to tell you. I guess you would talk with someone in Personnel.
They are obligated to pay their percentage for the work done when you were covered by them.
Please add more information to let us know what sort of work was begun.

Policies differ as to what they consider "date of service". Some clearly state it goes by the beginning date, others say completion date.

Was it a crown? Root canal? Extraction? It makes a difference.
If your insurance was effective in 08-06 then there should be no reason why they won't cover it.. If for some reason they didn't, I would fight that!! If wasn't your fault that you got laid off.. Good luck with everything
Payment is generally based on COMPLETION date. It sounds like the work may not have even been started, since you say it was "contracted" in August. If that is the case, they most definitely will not pay for it.
I don't know, but if you find yourself without coverage and you need a dentist go to www.AffordableDental4All.com to save up to 80%
