What kinds of disability insurance are available for the sole employee of a CA S-corp? |
Can the S-corp purchase the DI (and then use it as a deduction), or must the employee purchase it on his own? You can deduct the premiums which will make any future benefits taxable or you can pay after tax which will make any future benefits income tax-free. S-corp has nothing to do with it. Even natural persons have this option. Make sure you tell your agent which way you want to go because you should purchase more coverage if you plan on deducting the premiums to make sure that you net the same amount for your bills etc. please try this <a href="http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-1748196-104... target="_top">help!</a> As long as the S corp purchases the DI coverage for ALL employees of the same class (and duh, there's ONE employee) it shouldn't be a problem. But the actual COVERAGE will have to be individually rated. Contact the guy that does your business insurance for a quote. agent, 21+ years |
