Can you tell me how long I have to file for a hearing for long term disability against an insurance company? |
I have applied and been denied twice there reason is lack of information from the doctor. I now have to go through court and am having a hard time finding a lawyer who will handle the case. Not enough money for them. 1. Check the policy. The policy may state what amount of time the policy holder has to file suit. 2. Contact your state insurance commission. They should be able to tell you what the state law is. But beware if the time given in the policy is shorter, you are bound to that shorter time. Contrariwise, if the time given in the policy is longer than your state's statute of limitations, you are probably stuck with the shorter time, also. 3. Contact your local bar and see if they have a panel of attorneys who are willing to take low paying cases for the experience. Source(s): Retired attorney |
