What bis the best value for money on pet insurance? I have a small dog? |
He is a Bichon Friese nutuered and chipped Be VERY careful with insurance as i have just found out.Up until 2 years ago i was with "pet plan" I had been with them for 8 years and never claimed because all the treatments seemed to amount to approx 拢49 and the excess was 拢50 Then my dog had an accident and the cost was 拢163 so i sent in a claim form only to be told that because my dog was now 8 years old the excess had gone from 拢50 to 拢150. I explained that i had not been informed but they denied this and ii never received a penny so i then changed to another company. Unfortunately my dog now has a hernia and the vet said the treatment will be in the region of 拢1000-拢1500 but because my dog has had anal gland problems the insurance might not pay out as they could say the anal glands caused the hernia and and this would be classed as a recurrent problem. BE WARNED the best type of insurance is LIFE and not ANNUAL as LIFE will cover recurrent illnesses. Hope this has been helpful to you i use more than for both cat and dog thay seem to be the best of the bunch Tesco are reasonable, read the exclusions carefully on all policies i got a banfield insurance. they are located wherever there is a petsmart store. read more about what is covered in their insurance on this website - www.banfield.net No insurance company likes paying out, but I have found Petplan the most likely to pay and the most reasonable. Other more popular, on the surface cheaper, options are far more unlikely to pay if your animal has had any history of anything vaguely related ever, and also don't tend to pay out after 12 months in any long term conditions (diabetes, arthritis, allergies etc). My cat is insured with Petplan. I am a vet and deal every day with insurance forms/companies Sainsurys are very good, also Tesco. The special petplan insurers are a lot more expensive. |
