I was wondering if PetCare Pet Insurance is a good insurance program for my dog. She is 7 years old.? |
Specifically I was looking into the QuickCare Gold 100% coverage. Anyone have any info on them? I'm not sure about PetCare... but I highly recommend VPI pet insurance... I use it for my 2 Italian Greyhounds. http://www.petinsurance.com I know they have a good program and making claims is relatively easy. Check them out before you make a decision... If you do yearly vet visits and all the preventatvies (heatguard, flea/tick control, yearly vaccines [I recommend 3-5 years though...]) they have a very good and very cheap preventative care option which can actually save you money if you use all availible options... To clarify what someone below me said, most vet offices don't offer any type of insurance programs. They are reimbursement programs run by major companies, not by individual vets. VPI at least is valid anywhere in the country, at any licensed vet office or hospital. The vet technically doesn't even have to know you have insurance on your animal. I don't have any information on that particular insurance company, but speaking from experience (I work in a vet's office) the premiums you pay are usually higher than your pet's annual check up with vaccinations. Unless your pet is sick, I wouldn't recommend it, and even then, a lot of companies won't cover it unless you had the policy before your animal got sick. If it was a pre-existing condition, a lot of them won't cover any treatment for it. (Sounds like an HMO doesn't it? LOL!) I Use to Work for Pet co And heard that it was a pritty good Thing thou I have not realy thyed it It would depend on the breed and helth of the Dog realy Don't buy it.. It is just a rip off. Professionally, do not take your dog to a vet that offers this, they are only out for money. I can tell you so many stories that you would be shocked! These places are usually at Petsmart and other places... Just find a small clinic that does the practice just because they love animals, that is your best bet! I had it when I first got my dogs and it wasn't really expensive, but I didn't end up using it and I needed to save money, so I dropped it. I think it is good in an emergency situation, like if your dog has to have some expensive surgery or gets hurt or something. It probably depends on the type of fees your vet charges. A vet visit in the city of Chicago can easily cost $150+ for something routine. I knew a guy whose dog ate a bunch of advil and required about $3,000 worth of vet care to pump the dog's tummy. Anyway, I think PetCare is pretty good. I would check out the better business bureau website and see if there unresolved complaints filed against them. |
