Can anyone recommend a good pet insurance for an elderly dog? |
I have a 12 year old pomeranian, still in good health except some genetic pre-existing condition, but he has been treated for them and has not shown any signs of a recurrence for over a year. I'm pretty sure I want to but pet insurance, my question is any recommendations and anybody know about companies that will cover senior dogs or pre-existing conditions ? Source(s): dog breeder since 1968 I have investigated Pet insurance for my Boxer dogs. The ones I looked at would only take them up to 7 years old. They also offered different levels of insurance. The most expensive everything, and included routine shots/exams. I'm pretty sure that Pets Best will accept older dogs and heard that they do cover at least some amount toward pre-existing conditions (which is unlike the other companies I researched). They have an online quote system that might be helpful. I have heard that insurance premiums go up for older dogs, but it might be worth it to at least see what the premiums would be. Good luck! p.s. I just read that your pup hasn't had problems for more than a year. I think in that case that it may not be considered pre-existing, but you could always call and ask to make sure.
