Should you have to pay extra liabilty insurance to own a pit bull dog? |
Some cities are outlawing Pit Bull dogs as pets, or enforcing owners to license and insure them as high risk pets. my daughter has 2 female pit bulls.. biggest babies I have ever seen. That said If the dog is raised in a loving NON violent situation he should be a good well adjusted animal! On the flip side.. PB's were breed to bull bait/fight and it takes alot to breed the "fighter" out of them. Here is what Ohio says.. BTW my daughter lives in a city that requires insurance & you can only own 1 dog! How do they get wawy with 2.. one is her room mate's and one her boyfriend! "State Legislation and Court Decisions: In September 2004 the Ohio Supreme Court upheld a lower court decision, ruling that a law requiring the owners of certain dogs to confine their pets and purchase liability insurance is unconstitutional. The Ohio law required owners of vicious dogs to carry at least $100,000 worth of liability coverage. The basis of the majority decision was the failure of the statute to give dog owners the right to contest the classification of their pets as 鈥渧icious鈥?or 鈥渄angerous鈥?by dog wardens." Source(s): http://www.ddrt.net/shelterdoglaws.htm... Yes. I think that all dog owners with any kind of dog bigger than a tea-cup should have to carry personal liability on them. People should not own pitbulls fullstop. Because news, society, publicity, hypocondriacs, old people and poodle lovers have given pit bulls a bad name. All that crazy crap you hear about swelling brains and locking jaws turning on their masters and pain resistance is all myth. Nothing more than people bluffing up their dog to be some kind of four legged Jaws. Its all in the owners. I have been bitten by more poddles and cockers than I have any other dog and I own 2 pits. If they are going to raise and/or require insurance on a dog, maybe they should look at statistics on what dog has the highest bighting record and quit picking on pits. Perfect example, the above post. Straight oppinion!!! My brain, which is certified in Animal Management Technology Modified 1 year ago |
