I am thinking of starting a dog walking service. how much should i charge? do i need insurance for it?

I was thinking of charging $80 per month.
i would walk the dog 5 times a week. 30 minutes per day.
sounds good, too good, bad?
do i need insurance incase something happens to the dog?

It depends on how much you want to make. At your rate, it works out roughly to $8 an hour. And how many clients do you expect when you first start out? Can you get enough clients to fill your schedule?

When you factor in, insurance (yes, you do need it, its a liability issue even if you have your clients sign a waiver), supplies (bags and such), time spent driving or walk to your clients house to pick up the dogs... I'd say yes, your rate is too low...
charge $50 a month and walk the dog 3 times for 1 hour a day so that people like ur service and will come back for another month. and yes u need insurance
Momma Cindys Dog Care Service
You do need insurance to cover yourself and the dogs, $80.00 a month is good, because that is $20.00 a week. Animals can never get enough exercise.
I charge depending on the dog. I know, thats weird, but, it seems to work.
For instance. I walk 2 pit bulls 3 days a week for an hour an a half. But, its not walking, we are running as well as basic training for 15 min. I charge $12 a piece a day. The total time I am with them is roughly 2 hours.
I also walk another dog, a cocker spaniel that is 8 years old. So she doesn't need to be ran for an hour and a half... so I just charge her $5 a day for 30 minute walks. She gets walked 2 times a week with no leash training.
But, its ultimately up to you.

And yes, I would suggest insurance. Good luck!
Depends on the area you live in...here in So. Cal. the going rate is around $15.00 per visit (30-45 mins) and overnight stays are $65.00 per night.
