i am thinking of starting a local dog walking service.

You would need a general liability policy. Contact your local Independent Insurance Agent, he or she can help. It would probably cost about $750.00 to 1,250.00 for about $300,000.00 Combined Single Limit . I think Scottsdale Insurance Company written through a Excess and Surplus lines wholesaler would write your policy. Your agent will know how to obtain the policy...Good Luck...
