EDUCATION REFORM you can be an independent to the IRS, but 4 student loans based on parents income? |
does this seem oppressive and moranic to anyone one else HELP If someone droped out or failed the educational system once i.e. droped out of highschool collge etc., why should they then be penilized and made to wait till they are 25 to get a second chance at trying to better themselves????? Is it just me or is it that the man is really trying to keep us all down especially the po' folks!!?!! I agree with you. Not only are the poor badly treated by this system, but also the independent children of wealthy parents. I've known a couple of people who didn't get along with their parents and left home without any help from them, but they couldn't get loans because their parents made too much money. This in spite of the fact that they weren't taking any money from their parents. LOL @ that. Is it really 25? I went back to college at 23 and don't remember using my parents info. You could just take p/t load and pay as you go. I am over $60K in school debt and I wish I would have paid some of it as I went...hate to deal with it now. The assumption is that parents shell out the dough for their children's college education. I am not entirely sure, but I imagine that if there is a falling out with the 'rents for some reason or other then the child can change his or her status in relation to student loans. I think the higher educational loan system is terrible, and is definately in need of reform. I know folks who are in debt over 50k after college. How is that anyway to begin your adult life? The subsidized loans should at least be interest free, it is ridiculous to think that the government is collecting interest on those just trying to obtain an education and better their lives. Does anyone know of an organization that deals with Loan / Education Reform? Yeah, much of the higher education system is in desperate need of reform. What is going to happen is that other countries who offer free higher education, like many european and others do, will pull ahead in industries. Their citizens, and by association their economy will flourish because they are not weighted down by student loans. I think it is a serious problem that politicians won't fix because they don't think that it's worth enough votes for their next election. College years turned me into a negative cynic. Well, at least in some areas |
