Do nonresident aliens pay federal taxes on interest/dividend from US treasury bonds/bills ? Thanks to all? |
Do nonresident aliens pay federal taxes on interest/dividend from US treasury bonds/bills ? Thanks to all? Possibly. It depends on the person's country of residency. An income tax treaty may apply to reduce the dividend and/or interest tax rate from the normal 30% down to as low as zero. If the person was a nonresident alien but still physically present in the US for 183 days or more, they are also taxed at 30% on capital gains from US assets. Source(s): CPA 10 yrs experience NO..im pretty sure they don't have to pay ANY taxes at all... and it's just not right!!! Unfortunately they do have to in their own country. Sorry but I think you do have to at least fill out a 1040NR to see if you do have pay on your interest/dividends. It would be according to how much you earned. A licensed tax preparer (Enrolled Agent) No. Taxes are for Citizens or Permanent Resident Aliens ONLY. Top 4 Answerer in Business & Finance. (Vote for me, I only need 100 more votes) |
