I dropped out of highschool, and got my ged. I never recieved anything from selective services, in fact, it was not once brought up to me until i applied for financial aid, until now, I never even knew it existed, much less that it was a law. I am and have always been a U.S. citizen and would gladly sign up now but they say I am too old. Please help so that i can further my education and provide a better life for my family.
By law, men cannot register with Selective Service after the age of 26. Such men generally cannot receive Federal, State or Institutional Aid unless he is exempt from registration. You can file a waiver but good luck. You never receive a notice from SS... you are just supposed to "know" to sign up. Here is the appeal process. Do it in person if you can.
