When claiming for flood damage on car insurance? |
We have currently had our mini cooper s written off as cat b, and we have been given a settlement figure, 500 pounds below its market value. is there anything we can do about this or do we have to take there offer. You don't have to take their first offer. Find evidence of its true value and send it to them. A lot of insurers try this initially, in the hope you'll accept their figure. ask them to explain their calculation and explain them your calculation based on factual evidence. Maybe they can come to some agreement You can appeal. What is market value? Different people could come up with different figures. For example, if buying a car the same model could be a dozen different prices at a dozen garages, I know people quote things like Glass but it is only a guide, not a definitive price.. After all what is 拢500 these days ..hardly seems worrying about too much. As I say appeal to them. If you can get another 拢200 accept it and get a new car. this is based upon one of those trade guides, for example the parker guide. an example the book might say 2002 mini on an '02' with 60,000 miles on the clock would be sold for say 拢8,000 this is what they believe it's worth and will only offer that amount |
