How much will health insurance cost me?

I am going to be transitioning into owning my own business, which means I won't be having health insurance through an employer anymore.

I'd like to get an idea of how much it will cost me to pay for health insurance on my own.

I'm female, 25 years old, no medical problems to speak of.

Can anyone out there give me a ballpark figure? Thanks!

There really isn't a "ballpark" figure for health insurance because there are so many plans available. In my area the range for a healthy 25 yo female is $31 to $473 per month depending upon the plan and the benefits, however, most people pay around $100 - $150. You said no medical problems to speak of but even little things like allergies can alter the premium.

You'll want to visit a local independent agent. This person knows the market in your area and can find a plan that's best for your situation and budget. They don't charge anything for the service.

You may get people here trying to sell you medical discount cards. Be very wary of these cards. They are not regulated by the Department of Insurance nor do the people that sell them need to be licensed. This means you have little recourse when you have problems with the plan. If you are tempted by the low price and claims of 鈥渟ave up to 80%鈥?be aware that very few doctors actually take these cards. It does you little good if you have to drive 4 hours to find a doctor that will accept the card. Montana couldn鈥檛 find any doctors in the whole state that actually took the card and only one dentist who was on probation for unlawful activities so they banned the sale of the card and fined the company. See this link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes... for more information. Many other states are starting to ban these cards as well.

Before signing up with any discount plan get a list of doctors. If they won鈥檛 give you a list consider it to be a scam. Call the doctors on the list to make sure they鈥檙e still taking the card (many don鈥檛 even know that they鈥檙e listed as a provider) and that they鈥檙e accepting new patients. Source(s): Independent Agent
I went through a lot of trouble after I graduated to find insurance. For a long time, the cheapest I could find for decent coverage was around $120. I kept watching the mail and finally I found a special from Anthem that I got for $83 a month. I cover all the costs except preventative care (for women, it pays for your yearly automatically). Really that's the only cost I had as far as insurance goes, so it worked for me.
it depends on the state you live in, also on how much you earn, and how many dependants you claim
