Theists, why do you need health insurance? |
"If God exists, and if God answers prayers, and if God has a plan for each of us, then there is no point in ever visiting a doctor. Owning health insurance is a complete waste of money. The reason is easy to see: Either God will or will not answer any prayer for healing. If he does answer the prayer, there is no need for a doctor. If he does not, then God's plan is for you to be sick. Since God is omnipotent, no amount of doctoring will change the outcome of God's plan. Seeing a doctor is a waste of time." Because "God's plan" does not necessarily state if i get ill, i will die. it might state that i'll get ill, i'll get better with the medical treatment, and move on. perhaps He might answer the prayer for healing by providing a doctor - it does not have to be some miracle, lightning bolt cure. edit: yeah, either he wants me to remain ill or not. but if he wanted me to remain ill, then wouldn't he just NOT have put the doctors all there in the first place? i'd get health insurance so that if i had to see a doctor, i wouldn't have to pay loads. no other reason. Of course God's plan can't be foiled. i rekcon He knows which way it will go either way. it might be, i'll see a doctor (paid for by my insurance) and die anyway. but if i didn't see a doctor, and God's plan had been that if i had, i would have lived, but i didn;t, so i died, that would be gutting. you get my point? i think you are looking for the scientologists.... they aren't here right now, so leave a message... Why do you assume we do. We have to pay medicare so we want to use it. I can only talk for the old believers; the younguns are on their own. You know, it's questions like these that make me wonder why I waste my time here at R&S... <sigh> |
