What is proper split when working for a health insurance broker? He is offering me 50/50 split is that fair? |
What is proper split when working for a health insurance broker? He is offering me 50/50 split is that fair? I would have to consider the following in determining if this split were fair: 1. Are they providing you with an office with phone/fax/email/internet access? 2. Are they providing services to your clients? 3. Are they providing you with leads? 4. Are they picking up the tab for your marketing? 5. Are they reimbursing you for expenses? If the answer is yes, then it is more than fair. These things cost money and your business will grow faster working for a broker than working alone - if they provide you with these things. Good luck. Source(s): Certified Insurance Consultant - Life/Health, Connecticut Yes, that's fair. Most of the time it's 50/50, or sometimes 55 new, 45 renewal. agent, 21+ years YES. I found interesting information about your answer here. http://all-insurance-online.blogspot.com... Good luck! "Fair" will depend on what else is he throwing in? E&O, office space, telephones, clerical help, other expenses? Also, what about prospecting and marketing; any other benefits? Health insurance? If he's helping with that, then yeah fairly standard deal. If he's not helping with getting new clients, then what are you getting out of the deal except a smaller paycheck? Also, make sure you read your agency agreement and understand the renewal commision split. Save yourself heartache down the road. Good luck. http://ohio-insurance-forum.blogspot.com... |
