How much would it cost on average to get a private health insurance? |
How much would it cost approximately to get a private health inurance for an unemployed person with pre-existing condition (like Lupus or MS)? I sold health insurance and I doubt you could get private health insurance with those pre-existing conditions. However, have you checked out your state government to see if they have a program that allows coverage regardless of your health? In Colorado we have one and premium is around $500 per month for a family you can't get it with Lupus, MS, etc, because the insurance company would know that it would lose on you. you've got to get a job with a company which includes non-exclusionary group insurance. Insurance companies HAVE to insure you. It's the law. Even with pre-exisiting conditions. Depending on what state you live in, and what type of medical coverage you want, the costs can vary. In NJ, a single plan for someone like yourself can run you anywhere form $250 a month to $700 a month. You need to check out different companies and different plans. Good Luck. I use to work for an Insurance Company..and you can pay up to $3000 a month for Insurance with a pre-existing condition. it all depends on your state and which insurance you choose. You may have to go with a Major risk Plan. For example in California we have Blue Cross Major Risk. You can get quotes on line. make sure you are honest with your medical history. If you are not honest and they find out you can be responsible for paying ALL your medical bills back. It can get ugly! Good luck! Private health insurance is hard to get if there is a pre-existing condition. You may need to find an Insurance Broker to find you the best rates possible. Even then you many not be able to have anything relative to the pre-exisiting conditions covered. Really check out that they will cover that which you need coverage for, otherwise, you will be paying upwards of $100 per month, and only get minimal assistance from an insurance provider. This is muchmor eimportant if the person is single and cannot get spousal coverage or financial assistance. The Health Care Provider should be able to point you in the right direction, and there may be medical programs that you can tap into that you are unaware of.
