I have a start-up company ages 22-24 looking for health insurance. how do I choose? what should I look for? |
I don't know much about HMO, PPO, or HSA. I am on enetinsurance.com as recommended by a friend, but I really don't know what to look for or how one health insurance company differs from another. I would love some guidance. Does the company sign up for the plans and it gets deducted from the employees check every paycheck? Depending on your budget and depending on the expected general health of the employees and the owners, there are various possibilities. Tell us more about that so we can better help you. Or email me. Usually a certain amount of the employee's paycheck automatically goes toward their medical insurance. That said, whatever you do, DON'T go with an HMO.Too many deductibles and restrictions, you're almost better off paying everything out of pocket. PPO's are usually the way to go, since they have a better re-imbursement rate if you go to a non-participating doctor, and have better policies overall.Not too familiar with HSA's sorry. I do know that of the many companies out there, Blue Cross and Blue Shield is one of the most popular. Many, many doctors participate with them, Oxford isnt bad, and HealthNet is okay too, but again, they're a bit tricky when it comes to deductibles. They will usually slap you with a $500+ deductible if you chose to go to someone who doesn't participate with them. Well, that's it for now. Hope I helped a bit.
