I have pcos and want to get pregnant but i dont have health insurance is there a natural treatment? |
i am over weight and went undiagnosed for at least 2 years i was on metformin, but it made me sick so i stopped taking it then i lost my health insurance. i have a family history of diabetes, colon cancer, and heart disease. i am very active but never seem to loose any weight. i want to be healthier and get better but i dont know how to make this happen.. i want to have children in the next 2 yrs. and i am not sure if that is possible. if i could find a natural treatment to help me that'd be great, but if not i'd like to know the best way to treat pcos......please help Dont listen to these people about being overweight, obviously they are ignorant. Yes, it is ideal you be at a healthy weight before getting pregnant, but it is not a priority. And yes, doctors will help you if you are overweight. They might give you **** about it, but they will help you as long as you are healthy (IE: blood pressure, blood sugar, thyroid, etc...) I have read that a diet like atkins or south beach (not for the purpose of losing weight, but to get your pcos under control) is the best way to treat pcos. It helps get your sugar under control. You could also try vitex or fertility blend. You could just go to your obgyn and see if he will prescribe you clomid, that seems to work for alot of women. I dont have insurance either, and am paying everything out of pocket. Depending on the Dr., office visits run between 50-100 and 1 cycle of clomid is about 50 dollars, depending on the dosage. If you dont have that much to spend, and you dont have insurance, then mabey you should wait until you are financially stable to start trying. It has nothing to do with your weight. There really isn't a real natural treatment. But I think you need to check your priorities. You are overweight and have no health insurance. You're going to need insurance for that baby and it's healthier for both of you if you are at a normal weight. Being overweight can further hurt your fertility anyway. It's best to get your weight back to normal and get insurance before trying. I have PCOS, too, and while I'm not trying to get pregnant, I do know that there are natural ways to help get PCOS under control. I went to a naturopath who had amazing suggestions that helped me lose wieght and look and feel better. I honestly don't know how much it would cost to see one, but chances are good that if you tell them that you don't have insurance, they'll do what they can to see you less frequently and charge you less when you do see them. Good luck! Personal Experience Well you are certainly dealing with lots of problems. First of all, you need to lose weight and get healthy before you have a baby. Cut out all soda (even diet) and drink only water or 1% milk. Get at least 30 minutes of exercise each day. Write down everything you eat in a food journal so you can see what's really going on. Then you'll have to deal with the PCOS. I don't think any doctor will really want to help you as long as you're still overweight. Make a solid commitment to get healthy, then seek treatment. I would think about getting some health insurance before trying to bring a baby into the world. The cost of having a child is extremely expensive. Anyway, I swear by "preseed" just google it.. I tried to get pregnant for 2 years, about 3 months ago I was dx with endo... I didn't wnt to give up so in nov. I ordered some preseed and used it in the end of nov/begin. dec. and got pregnant. I am now going into my 6th week of pregnancy. twoweekwait.com preseed.com 6 weeks pregnant. |
