Why should the government have anything at all to do with my health insurance? |
i really wish the gov't would stop touching everything i do. i'm a big boy, i can take care of myself. i don't need medicare, social security, minimum wage, or health care provided for me because i can do it myself. i wish congress would stop treating me like an idiot who would go to work without my pants on if they weren't there with some pants-on maintanance program...when the fed's mess with stuff it tends just to get bigger, more annoying, and inneficient. ok, i'm done ranting, sorry. feel free to answer the question if you'd like =) The only good answer is that we are in a global economy and US companies are competing with companies in countries with nationalized health care. Therefore, the price of the product from the other country is lower because the health care cost of insuring the company's employees is not factored into the cost of the product. This is a huge burden on US companies. I have a small business and employ just two people full time. My costs for health insurance have risen astronomically, 25% just last year. I completly agree, but some people just cant get the concept of personal responsibility, so they feel that the government should hand them their life on a nice little platter with a bow, instead of working hard for their own life I very much agree with you. Unfortunately, responsible people such as ourselves are a minority in this country. Government largesse has turned our people into a nation of rent-seekers. I did a calculation of how much better off I would have been had my Social Security taxes been invested in a totally mindless pile of stocks (the DJIA) over the years. I would have four times as much money as my Social Security is worth. Answer: Because the Government thinks you are too stupid to take care of yourself. To sum it up the govt controls most everything for a reason. And then people whine about not being a free country. Cant please everyone all at once. Too many of us. Because, what kind of a society would we be... if we let our sick, old, and indigent members die alone in the streets? I completely agree with you. I do it all myself, as well. I hate having a negative consequence for someone else's inability to take responsibility for their actions. I think rewarding someone's bad choices with free money is absurd... But alas, here we are. Because there are many people that can't afford health insurance, just like many people can't afford private schooling which is why the government runs schools also. I am a far right Republican but I must agree with the socialist liberals on these cases. But everything you said was correct, most people can take care of it themselves. Probably a better solution would be to pay for or help pay for private heathcare and schooling (because public schools SUCK) |
