Why do I have to continue to pay for my ex's health Insurance? |
When I separated from my husband, we agreed to keep him on my health insurance if he paid for 陆 - he has never paid me a cent. There is no co-pay when we pick up any prescriptions; the insurance company bills me directly for that later. Since 1/05 he has not paid anything for his meds (it would have cost $20,000+ a year for his meds alone if he had no insurance. He is on a lot of psych drugs). He can get insurance through his employer but won鈥檛 鈥?why would he when he can get if for free from me? I got an email from him tonight asking for the 2007 insurance cards. I am so angry at how unfair this is! I am billed for all his prescriptions and he doesn鈥檛 have to pay me anything for them. The child support he pays takes into account the cost of insurance for the kids (I cover them as well). There is no place to indicate how much I am out of pocket for all his medical expenses. My lawyer said I can't drop him from my insurance until the divorce is final. We live in Ohio. Q: Why do divorces cost so much? A: Because they're worth it!!! Hey, at least you're getting rid of the guy. The best revenge is living well. Go out there an enjoy your new life. Perhaps you should revisit that agreement... And tell him that he either pays up or he finds his own way of getting the meds... That should scare him into it... Or he just doesn't want to take them... the divorce should be finally since 2005. i wouldnt let him have the cards. looks like hes just using you. well you should get a second opinion on that. but you should cancel yourself and leave im on it and get another insurance and dont pay the one with him on it. This is easy. Dont send him the 2007 cards until he pays you what he owes you. Send him an email with a detailed bill telling him that when he pays up 2006, you will send the documents for 2007. This is totally legal. Whats he gonna do? Get his lawyer to write you a letter? Big deal. Just keep paying the premiums on his 2007 health insurance as you have been doing and are ordered. He cant take you to court because you ARE paying for it. He cant stop paying child support in revenge because then you can take HIM to court for contempt. If he uses this lame excuse the judge will dismiss it and fine him for not paying child support. See? There's loop holes everywhere, hon. You'll get your money. Hopefully he will ordered to pay it back, if not try to get this divorce done and over with so you can drop him off that insurance like a hot potatoe and tell him you are not giving him the 2007 insurance cards until he gives you back your money he promised. Tell him to get his own insurance and stop loafing off of yours, the bum. |
