What would be the best way for a twenty something male with no health insurance to see dr 4 referral+physical? |
he goes to school and works part time.he would like to get a referralle Has your friend checked into insurance offered through his school? At worst, he could work out a deal with the hospital or medical facility where he would make periodic payments. He might want to keep a diary of his medical problems so he will be better prepared when he does see a doctor. I鈥檝e included links below to a free clinic directory, the Bureau of Primary Health Care that can help him locate country and state health departments, and a page listing Medicaid state sites. Health insurance is usually less expensive as part of group health plan, so he should try and find out if he can get work through school or his work. I鈥檝e also included links to Needy Meds and Partnership for Prescription Assistance, both of which have information on how to get financial assistance in buying prescription medication. Needy Meds also has information medical assistance programs categorized by state, federal, private, and disease/condition. When he can afford his own private plan, tell him to check out MostChoice.com. He can look up free insurance rates and talk with more than one local insurance agent. There鈥檚 no cost or obligation to buy anything from anyone, and he might be surprised to find that insurance is more affordable than you think. Some plans are $60 a month and include preventive care such as routine doctor visits. You can visit MostChoice here: http://www.mostchoice.com/health-insuran... Hope this helps, Barnes@MostChoice Source(s): Free Clinic Search http://medkind.com/scripts/modules/modul... Needy Meds http://www.needymeds.com/ Partnership for Drug Assistance https://www.pparx.org/selectmedication.p... Try to locate a free medical clinic or teaching hospital in your area. Check with free clinics...or Catholic Social Services in your area. Some even provide free dental care. 1. If you go to school, you can see the health professionals on campus. I personally have had to do this. 2. Go to the local health clinic (County Health Department). If you have no money, they won't charge you anything and if you do, they work on a sliding scale. I've done this too. if you go to school your tuition fees include access to the medical center. If they don't do whatever is needed on site, they will point you in the right direction. might as well use it...you pay for it! :) There are several programs out there depending on where he lives and his financial situation. To find out your nearest clinic, you may be able to call 2-1-1 from your home phone and ask them for that.....also, find out if there is a health expo going in in your area.....a great way to get some free work done...alll of this is mentioned in the book I just purchased online at Amazon call "Healthcare for Less" by Michelle Katz...be sure to save receipts, that can be a write off to (another tip I learned from the book) and the list goes on......hope this helps. |
