I was shot last night by a stray bullet. I don' t have health insurance. Help???? |
It's in my leg. It's not bleeding now, but it hurts. Will it heal around the bullet and leave a little hole? Should I do surgery myself? Damn it hurts. For gods sake go to the hospital now....they have the option to write off services, for uninsured, it is right in the budget, your leg is much more important than money and like i said they will treat you and if you are broke they will most likely write it off, they can not refuse you care. stray bullet?...wow...that is awful... if u leave it in there it could heal just fine but more than likely wont and could cause infection. ur best bet is just just go to the doctors anyway. The hospitals in my home town have signs saying they will treat you regardless of your ability to pay. You need to at least get to a clinic. I'd hate for you to lose your leg because of money. You need to go to your local County Hospital, they wont turn you away and will set up payment plans or see if you qualify for assistance. I wouldn't count on it healing w/ out infection. As far as I know, hospitals can't turn you away because you can't pay. You should go immediately because of the risk of infection. I would also guess that the bullet could eventually migrate and clip an artery and you could bleed to death. But I'm not a doctor You can always go to a county hospital which cannot turn anyone away. You can make a monthly payment such as $5 a month and they cannot turn you in to a bill collection agency as long as you are trying to pay on your bill on a monthly basis (if this is your concern). The bullet needs to be removed as it is a foreign body and can cause complications such as the wound not healing, poor blood circulation, and infection. Should the wound heal over it the body will more than likely begin to reject it at some point and time and it can cause problems later on. First of all, I don't believe you. Nobody can be that stupid to take a bullet then ask what to do in a health forum. But let's play your game and say you are that stupid. Then you go to the emergency room at your local hospital or clinic. By law, they cannot refuse to treat you. Worry about the bills later. |
