If i recieve an inheritance, how would that affect my ssi & breast cancer health insurance? It is income in the month received and a resource the month after. You would be ineligible for SSI in the month you receive it, and you could spend it down to under the $2000 resource limit. You must spend it only on yourself, or put it into an exempt resource, such as a home or car. Contact your local Social Security office for more details and exact facts.
