Why is it that as we get older on the job, they switch the health insurance and it cost us much more? Punishe? The longer we are at a job, the more money we should be making. Companies see this and they try to get rid of the older workers by any means possible. Be thankful you still have a job. I lost mine at 54 because I was making to much and they forced me to take an early retirement and I lost much because of it. The older you get, the more likely you are to get sick and/or die. That's the plain and simple truth of the matter. It's about economics and how much your boss thinks you're worth versus how much you actually cost. Maybe because older people could possibly have more health related problems. Older people usually require more health care. In as much as they are the beneficiaries, it seems only reasonable that they pay for it. Otherwise the costs get shifted to others who receive no benefit from it. When people's wages are taken for things they receive no benefit for, we term this slavery. The above people are right. Older employees make more money and insurance for them costs the employer more. Therefor there are articles in management journals advising them to cut costs by getting rid of older employees. The articles even tell them how to legally get rid of older employees. First give the employee a bad review, no matter how they are doing, make some stuff up. Set unattainable goals for review at a follow up review 6 months later. No matter how the person does, tell them they have not met their goals and give them the option of quitting or being fired. Commonly, the older you get the more your body starts to fail. Your in the hospital more, more meds, more doctor appointments, longer treaments, less time between treatments. Therefor...MORE MONEY. |
