I accepted a 5-Month job with a large Govt entity. There is no Health Insurance avail.for me Is this legal? |
I know the assignment is only for 5 months, but I am working 40 hours a week, never less. Yes, it is legal. The terms for 5 months is a contract position. And companies do not have to provide insurance for contract employees. Whether or not you're working 40 hours a week, you're still a contractor. Yes its legal, you are considered temporary. It sounds like you accepted a temporary job, an employer is not required to provide benefits for temporary workers. Now that they see what great work you can do though, you may be at an advantage when they hire permanent workers. Unfortunately, yes it is legal. You're best bet is to ask other temporary workers how they get their insurance, or simply contact different health insurance companies to get rate quotes. Good Luck! Health Insurance is an option employers have to offer employees-not a requirement.Unless it is offered and you do not "qualify" because you are working contract or for a temp. agency. "Putting in 40 hrs. is not enough." Yep, it's legal all right. (stinks, doesn't it?) yes. jobs dont have to offer any kind of benifits except for a pay check unless u volunteered |
