Does anyone know of any organizations in Texas that can help someone with no health insurance?

My brother broke his leg pretty badly a few days ago. He's seen a doctor and will need to continue to do so (and possibly need surgery). He has no insurance. Does anyone know of a non profit place that could help him cover the costs? He lives in Texas. Thank you!

In 1946, Congress passed a law that gave hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities grants and loans for construction and modernization. In return, they agreed to provide a reasonable volume of services to persons unable to pay and to make their services available to all persons residing in the facility鈥檚 area. The program stopped providing funds in 1997, but about 300 health care facilities nationwide are still obligated to provide free or reduced-cost care.

I live in TX as well and I dated a guy with severe arthritis in both of his knees. . . .with the medical experience/knowledge that I have I got on the phone and tried to find him some financial assistance and there is NONE for this type of surgery.
Now if he had broken his knees,he would qualify for our local Indigent Medical Program which is about the only help I can give you.
Most all cities have some kind of program such as this and this is about all I know to tell you to search for.

Good Luck
Ouch! I've been on crutches so many times...tell you brother I know how he feels!

The problem with getting insurance is that many insurance companies won't cover pre-existing conditions. Therefore, you might want to consider an affordable alternative to insurance--a medical discount plan. Basically, you pay a low monthly fee and then receive extremely discounted ("cash") rates when you visit the doctor, dentist, chiropractor, psychiatrist, etc.

I work for a company based out of Dallas that offers these plans, starting at $11.95 per individual per month, and not more than $59.95 per household per month. This is a great alternative, especially for people who have ongoing conditions and need medical attention immediately, such as your brother will. If he signed up today, he could visit the doctor tomorrow and immediately start receiving the discounts. He can even get discounts on ancillary services (i.e. crutches) and specialists' visits (such as an orthopedic doctor). And if he needs surgery, the price will be negotiated through my company so that he will pay significantly less.

You can e-mail me if you would like (Charlotte at c.krizman@sbcglobal.net). I can answer more questions for you or even get you signed up. There is also a 30 day money back guarantee if you decide the plan isn't right for you. Visit the link below for more information.

Best of luck!
