Can a company keep my last check, saying i owe it to them for health insurance? Did you sign any paperwork entitling that to them? If no, then they can't, since you worked off your health insurance cost by working for them. Talk to an attorney. A letter from an attorney or phone call, we release your check. If you actually do owe part of your health premium and the check covers it, then yes. No company can keep your last check for anything. That is against the law to do. Sue them! you should really ask for records stating you owe $XX.XX back to them for health insurance. It sounds bogus to me, but every company is different. if they have no records stating you owe such and such amount, contact a lawyer and ask. good luck. If you owe health care or other insurance premiums any company can deduct that from your last check. If there isn't enough check to cover the deductions, then they don't have to pay you anything. |
