My father is employed by the federal government, and until I turned 22 I was on his health insurance plan?

through work. After I turned 22 I was taken off the policy. I have had some problems with a root canal I had done, and I have a wisdom tooth coming in so I was going to ask him to look into getting me put back on (I'm 23 now). Is this possible? I was just wondering if anyone might know if this would be allowed. I know it will cost him more (I'll pay him the difference) but I'm not sure if it's even allowed. Thanks!!!

I do not think this is allowed. I believe that once you are over 18 you must be in school full time to be covered and once you are 22 you are no longer able to be covered..school or not. Why dont you try getting your own policy? If you are not employeed or low income there are medical assistance programs thru your state that you will be eligible for.
Only if you are his dependent can this be done or if you are still in school and primarily financially supported by him. Otherwise, you may have to get your own insurance.
Get a job, and get your own insurance..???
i am also on my fathers and he is in the army. im 19 now ans they told him im only covered past 18 if i am a full time student. my brother went threw this same thing, he had to get a job tht offered benifits.
Insurance policies differ, but most cut off dependant children once they turn 19, unless they are a full time student (and then they still have an age limit, usually 25 or so). If you are a full time student, you may be able to get back on his policy. If not, you are probably SOL. As far as the root canal, contact your dentist/endodontist - follow up shoudl be free or minimal fee. Usually once a root canal is done, you need a permanent restoration(filling of crown)- has that been done? If you need to have your wisdom teeth evaluated, you should only be charged an exam fee, usually @ $50.00 and from there you can determine what expenses might be in your future. Good Luck!

Yarmiah's answer is correct.

If you cannot get dental insurance, consider going to a good dental school to have the work done.

All work is done by students near graduation and supervised by dental professors. Sometimes the professors/dentists do the work to demonstrate.
