Is it straightforward to have a baby in Canada through the public health system, with no private insurance?

as far as i know yes i have had 2 children that route and my children are health and lively. i find that health nurses give you more care than if you had private care reason being is that there are alot of Canadian families that do not have private insurance. its just normal now adays. hope this helps and congratulations
It depends on if you are a citizen or not. If you are a citizen then you will have an OHIP card which provides your medical care for you.

If not, I am not sure you can have a baby or even see a doctor without paying for it.
