Free health clinics for men? my dad is having heart troubles but no insurance.? |
having trouble breathing, is overweight, does not drink any water, already failed a stress test but has no insurance so he won't go back to the doctor. he can sit for 10 minutes before his feet turn purple so i know there is some circulation problems. Call his doctors' office and see if they have charity or will work with you on his bill. Also, you can call the local hospitals in the area asking for billing and they can do the same. You will have to fill out forms, have copies of your fathers or parents bank accounts in order to have this done. This is if you are in the USA. IF he is a military retiree he can go to a Veterens Hospital. Also, I would call social security and get sarted on disability. He will get denied many times. Talk to his doctor, he may be able to help speed up the process. Once he gets the first denial, he will qualify for your local family and children services to help him out SOME. He may just qualify for for Medicaid, but at least it will help. Make sure with all this YOU start cooking for your father if you can. Talk to his doctor about low-carb or the low-cholesterol diets. This will help him get some weight off. Sometimes it is all you can do to get them started on the right track to good health. You can not force it. Only gently push a little. Let him know exactly what you are doing and why. Tell him how much you love him everyday. He is scared. He has always taken care of you and now, he can hardly take care of himself. He will fight you if you push to hard. You have to let him make up his mind but with a gentle nudge in the right direction. Do get him to sign your name to allow you to at least talk to the doctors. If you have other brother and sisters, it is time you all get together and decide if anything happens (worst case) everyone must make the decision not just one. Good-luck! Source(s): The charity issues I know of, because my ex-husband left me with nothing after 13 years and I have a back injury. I am trying to get disability. I personally had to follow these steps. When my husband left me, I've had to stay with my parents who are diebetics with heart problems. It's been interested to say the least. with chest pains, get him to a hospital, they need to take a good look at him. some clinics will see on a sliding scale money wise. have you tried signing him up for medicare or medicaid? when he gets better, take him to your local social services and get him signed up, they will help with dr bills and medications That sounds like an emergency. If he is having severe troubles breathing he needs to go to the emergency room ASAP. Water is EXTREMELY important to anyones well being. Purple feet, from lack of circulation could be an indicator that he has diabetes. (possibly onset from being overweight) I know here in Texas we have offices like "(county name)Public Health" where they offer medical care to the un-insured and under-insured. They can also provide you with insurance if you meet the qualifications to recieve it. Sounds like your dad needs to go see someone SOON! Nursing student Get him to the ER....preferably a hospital that is also a teaching facility...they can't turn him away for not having insurance. He can make payment arrangements after the fact or even apply for a Medicaid spin-down...there are also grants to help pay for medical bills. His health is more important than expense! he can go to the emergency room in most states, he sounds very sick, some people have a heart attack and do not even know that they did , so i would think a trip to the hospital is in order. i would also contact the hospital by phone and ask about your situation, they would know what is going on in the area as far as health programs. I am sorry for what you are going through and how helpless he has made you. |
