I want to get licensed to sell health and life insurance, and some where down the road securities, but...?

i am a felon for conspiracy to possess and distribute methamphetamine. i was charged 8 yrs. ago and spent 6 yrs. in a federal prison. i am not like that anymore and have completely changed my life. i am nothing like i use to be. i have a great job and two great children that i spend most of my spare time with. does anyone have any ideas on what i can do to get my license. i am still on probation with the feds, but get great reports from my probation officer. in fact she said she would try to put the paperwork in to get me released sooner. I live in the state of colorado. please someone help me. thank you.

You can't get a license, unless you have a specific dispensation from the state Insurance Commissioner, for YOU. So, you will have to write to your state insurance commissioner and ask them for a dispensation.

unfortunately you will not likely be able to do that. Most employers will, again, unfortunately not hire with that kind of background. To get your investment licenses, the usually ask for the past 10 years of ALL information, including arrests/convictions. You have to get sponsored by a firm to get those kind of licenses, especially securities. Even if your life has turned around for the better, it's definitely going to be an uphill battle.
