Who should bear the brunt of health insurance costs? Employers or taxpayers? |
Those people who work jobs with no benefits probably get health insurance through the taxpayer with programs like Medi-Cal and such. Someone has to pay the costs. And it's unrealistic to expect the worker to pay since he/she is not making enough to afford the high costs of health care. And before you say, "they should go to college and get a better job" remember that if everyone was able to do that, you yourself would be making much less money since the competition for your own job would be higher. How about we just stop making the price of medical care so damn unreasonable? Everyone is able to go to college and get a better job. There are scholarships out the wazoo, grants, student loans, etc. Name one good reason why any person in this country wouldn't have the opportunity to go to college? I'm very fortunate that I have excellent health insurance through my employer, and I pay only $36 per month. (I actually upgraded it. Our basic insurance is free. I have a few medical conditions, so I opted for the higher plan that pays more.) Guess what?!?!?! I DIDN'T GO TO COLLEGE!!! I speak well, I'm good at my job, and I give a d@mn fine interview. That's why people who think there's nothing wrong with speaking ebonics, acting trashy, etc. will work at McDonald's for the rest of their lives... Employers don't pay for the health insurance, nor do they pay taxes. You and I pay when we purchase their goods and services because those costs are included in the price of the product. If the employer is unable to fully include those costs they go out of business. So you and I as consumers pay for employer sponsored health insurance and you and I as taxpayers pay for state sponsored health insurance. No wonder I'm always broke. Independent Agent |
