Every dollar the employer pays in 'benefits' is one less dollar available to pay the employee. By that standard, the employee indirectly pays 100%. The average tells you nothing because the standard deviation is so great - At my company, employer pays about 80% of the total costs, used to be 90 - however, starting next year the $$ they put it is frozen, so if rates to up, employees absorb the balance. Usually the employee pays about 20%. |
