Pregnancy and Healthcare????? I have health insurance under my parents until Jul 21. My baby is due July 15th.

I just started a new job on Monday, and my benefits dont kick in until May 1st. The problem is my benefits wont cover my pregnancy, cause it wil be a pre-existing condition and I wont have any health insurance to cover my pregnancy. I applied for Medicaid today, and was told...I make too much money (23k) and couldnt receive benefits. What other options do i have than just paying for the pregnancy (delivering charges out of pocket)

pay for COBRA.... you basically pay your premium at a higher rate to get the same coverage. people pay for COBRA when they lose their job or when your existing coverage runs out/expires. google it "COBRA"

Where do you live?

Did you try Healthy Families? You may qualify for them. I did and I make about that. It is reasonable cost too
well if u have health insurance under ur parents until Jul21st and u are due July 15th then u should be fine. Just get ur but moven that last month to have baby wanna come lol.
I know it's a bit extreme... but could you arrange with your doctor to be induced or schedule a c-section, so that you are guaranteed to be covered until you are out of the hospital with your baby?
Oh hunny. I have this exact same problem (almost). I have an individual healthcare plan, which I thought was fairly nice until I found out it DOESNT cover pregnancy. This was about 5 weeks into an unexpected pregnancy. I bawled so much because uninsured pregnancy can be quite expensive (3-4 thousand depending on vaginal or cesaerean). I've been told to try to get medicaid, but my problem is that I absolutely love my OB clinic and I won't be able to stick with them on medicaid. My bf and I are probably going to end up having to get married (we planned on it eventually but we didn't expect it to be next month!) and I will be able to get on his group HMO plan. I don't particularly advocate this for you, but I'm just trying to relate. Good luck, and I know what your feeling right now:( It stinks being pregnant, and being unable to find a form of insurance during. They label it a "pre-existing condition" as if it's a weird unnatural disease. This country's healthcare is a joke.
Are you sure that your health insurance considers your pregnancy a pre-existing condition? I ask because even though it is pre-existing, being maternity it falls into a different category. Many insurance companies will cover pregnancy even though already pregnant when obtained the insurance, because it is not an ongoing condition. Fortunately even though I was 6 months pregnant when I got my insurance it covers all my maternity 100%. Anyway, can you not stay on your parents insurance until after the baby is born? Will theirs not cover it? Otherwise I do not know. I am a little surprised that you do not qualify for medicaid despite your income. I do not live in Alabama but I know several people that make decent money and still qualify. Good Luck
Medicaid its free if you qualify just got to the department of humans services ..and there is no out of paying pocket
