FL homeowners insurance cancelled?

After 11 years no claims, Travelers "no longer has a business relationship with the issuing agent." Anybody else had similar happen to them, and were you able to get replaced without going to the poorhouse?

Go to http://www.travelers.com/travelers-homep... and click on find an agent. Look for another agent in your area and switch by signing an agent of record letter. You would be able to stay with Travelers. That would be the first thing that I would do . I would not look for another company.
yes and now my insurance with new company is through the roof, no claims on mine former Insurance for 15 years ,now I am told most company's aren't insuring you if you live west of I 75 and if they do triple what was paid in premiums
Sorry to inform you but everyone, no matter what state you are in has gone up at least 25 percent or more over the past 3-4 years, in a way it is helping the insurance company's rebuild after all these claims in the states that have endured devastation. They cannot afford all the loss if the same area like Florida is repeatably hit with bad weather, so like all companies they have to cut their losses and discontinue coverage for homes. Prudential also has tried to pull out of home owners insurance in FL, but at the last minute decided to continue coverage. I know everyone hates insurance co., but they are a business also and they like to make money like every other American. Maybe the government has to get involved, and regulate insurance co, but that could make matter worse. Its a catch 22!
Insurance business 15 yrs.
You can ASK Travelers to find you a replacement agent in that area, and have them take the policy over on a "broker of record" letter. Actually, I would do that FIRST, before trying to shop it out.

There was probably a problem with your agent - like he didn't pay his bills, or his losses were too high, or he lost his license, or died or something. If he was a DECENT agent, he would have arranged, in advance, to have all his Travelers policies taken over by another agent, without the cancellation being issued.

Now, he's probably scrambling to find a replacement carrier, but will have a hard time - if Travelers didn't want him any more, then odds are, ESPECIALLY in Florida, no one else will want him either. So I'd try to find another FL agent!! EVEN if they don't live by you.

OH, which reminds me . . .I have a buddy who has a FL agency, I can't remember if he has Travelers or not, though. Try www.huttinsurance.com .
Agent, 20+ years
Yup, it's happening everywhere down here. Liberty Mutual just cancelled my neighbor who's been with them for over 15 years. At least they were nice about it....they're not being cancelled until March so they have time to deal with it and find a new carrier.

Personally, my insurance premium just DOUBLED this year. I'm paying over $3,000 annually and that doesn't include another $1700 for flood insurance.

Our legislators better do something about this outrage if they want to keep their jobs!
