Will homeowners insurance cover my furnace which got soaked from a leak in the roof? |
I let it dry out but now its vibrating and setting of my carbon monoxide detector. Of course I turned it off but now no heat and mean while its still leaking. Do I just let it be and wait for the yahoo insurance adjuster. Only if it was storm damage. And of course if you live in Louisiana all bets are off. Sad to say Source(s): www.innovativechimney.com It should be covered under residual damage from the roof, unfortunatly that won't help you out for the immediate time being. What I would suggest is portable space heaters, but make sure that they are the kind that turn off when knocked over, oh yeah also wear more clothes. Yes, it should be covered, but I suppose it all depends on your policy. Do not turn it on if it's setting off the carbon monoxide detector. That's a deadly gas... It depends on what caused the roof to leak. If the roof suddenly began to leak as the result of storm damage, the insurance company will probably cover all of the damage resulting from the leak. If the insurance adjuster determines that you have had a leaking roof for a long period of time, and have been negligent in not having taken steps to have it fixed, he or she will likely deny your claim. After all, you have a responsibility to maintain your home. Good luck with your claim. |
