I own several parcels of vacant land in several states. My homeowners insurance used to cover liability.? |
I sold the home however and no longer have a homeowners policy and my renters insurance does not cover unrelated land that I own. Does anyone know of a renters policy that does cover vacant land or an insurance company that writes liability policies for vacant land? Your regular homeowners insurance policy will cover you for personal liability, any one making a claim that you personally have done something wrong and they usually require that the alleged incident occurred on the listed premises. The homeowners would not cover unrelated land, they generally cover the specific described premises on the declarations page. However, it is very difficult to make any blanket statements about what is covered due to the fact that some companies right their own policies and make changes from policies that are written by the insurance services orginization (iso). Source(s): Insurance Professional Try farmers insurance company, they cover everything. In the meantime just putting up several no trespass signs should be enough to cover you (if vacant or not) You can insurance vancant land through a farm type policy. The person who suggested you try Farmers Ins had a good suggestion. We have serval different types of policies. You can go to www.farmersinsurance.com to find a local agent.
