Call around various insurance offices and ask them to give you a free quote. I just bought a home in Indiana and that is what I did. I have an excellent insurance company and my agent is great!

Make sure you shop around..............
"Reasonable" is going to be based on your risk. A local, independent agent can get you multiple quotes (if you're not in Florida), and "reasonable" should all be in the same ballpark.

It's going to be based on your credit & claims history, the house's claims history, the house type, construction, cost to rebuild, and a wide variety of other factors. If YOU aren't living in the home, it doesn't qualify for a homeowners policy.

If you're in Florida, there IS no reasonable homeowners insurance. My advice is, don't buy real estate in Florida right now.

The reasonable rate has to be defined not just by price, but by cost and benefit.
Some coverage is more complete than other coverage and price is reflected in that. Another consideration has to be the financial strength of the company, companies that are weak may charge less.

Try einsurance.com. they give competitive rates from many companies. Also Amica Ins is a great co. with great rates. Same with USAA ins.
