Dogs and Homeowner's Insurance?

I have ALWAYS had dogs, but for the first time I am having a hard time getting a company to give me a homeowner's policy because of my 2 Dobermans. They are the sweetest dogs, but because of the breed, NO BODY will insure me. Has anyone else had this problem??
I am thinking of telling them my dogs are mutts or Black Labs!
Any suggestions?

these are tips from the akc site.
I personally have had no issues. I only have one basenji pup though.

Homeowners insurance makes no sense to me at all. It seems to me they would be a deterrant from your home getting broken into. but at the same time a liability for a bite on a visiter in your home. If I had to make the choice I would not tell them of the dogs, and hope they dont bite anyone, because then the person can sue for the home,,,,,,,,,and they will.
Don't lie. Lying will invalidate your insurance EVEN if the complaint that is being investigated has nothing to do with the dogs.

Just keep trying, someone must insure houses with dobermans. Try the breed association and humane societies.

Good Luck!
In the state of NC you will not be able to rent if you have a dobie, Pitt, Rott, Akita, and some other ones.... good luck.
I've had a hard time too, and some insurance companies are more random than others. I had All State not want to insure because I rescued a husky, a husky of all dogs. I breed german shepherds and that didn't phase them at all, but the husky did, I couldn't believe it because huskies love all people. I looked many places and finally went to State Farm, they wanted to know if my dogs had ever bit anyone, and never even asked me what breed they were. I did have some places that would insure if the dogs had been through training or had been through the companion temperament checks.

BTW - I pay more for my homeowners than with some of the other companies, but I really don't think the dog part had much to do with that.

Good Luck!
The insurance companies are thinking LIABILITY if the dogs bite someone. Keep checking around. Some companies have different requirements for different states. So go to an insurance broker (sells policies from more than one company) instead of a specific companies agent.
We go through Allstate, they don't care if you have dogs.
When we moved was the first time I ever had a company ask me if I had dogs.
