Can you file a claim on your homeowners insurance if what happened is your fault? |
my son left the water running, and the sink overflowed. Yes - the only way they don't pay for owner-inflicted damage is if they believe it was intentional. Accidents happen - thats why we have insurance. It couldn't hurt to ask. I know someone who accidentally kicked over a shop light when painting and melted the carpet and it was replaced. I also claimed, and was paid for, burned carpet when my husband left the iron on and it fell to the floor scorching the carpet. Good luck. Of course you can, thats what home insurance is for. Most policies have deductibles though. yep..... Normally you can. As long as you do not make a habit of filing claims, most insurance companies will pay for things like this. As mentioned, most policies have deductables so you may want to look at the amount of damage before filing a claim. If their portion is a small amount, you may not want to file as this (even though small) will be a claim filed. No doubt the easiest way to get insurance quotes is on the web. Why would you waste your time on the phone calling around? the last time i needed quotes on insurance i used one of these comparison sites and it was great. this is the site i used and it was quick like less than 5 mins. The last thing I want to do is listen to elevator music while waiting for a salesman. Anyway I got good quotes and ended up saving money so I was happy. So shop around and compare quotes which is easy on the net. Good starting point is at this site. http://insurance.deal4-you.com Good luck. |
