What type insurance would I need for loaned artwork that I am displaying at my open house?Where can I get it? |
I am hosting an open house for a luxury home. I have found some artists who will allow me to use their artwork to make the house look beautiful. But they do not provide their own insurance beyond transportation. How can I insure their artwork for the 3 days of the open house? It's called Bailee coverage. A "one shot" policy covering a 3 day event is probably going to run you about $500; if you plan on doing this more than once, it might be more cost effective to do it on a reporting form or blanket basis, for a full year. You can go to a local, independent agent (starting with the guy that writes YOUR insurance, if he's independent) to get some quotes. It will likely take a week or so to place, so allow some time!! If your guy can't do it, ask him for a referral. ***Coverage for property of others in your care, custody & control is called bailee coverage. Bailee is a TYPE of inland marine policy. Short term coverage, for a three day even, is called special event - usually property coverages and liability coverages are NOT combined on one policy, for a special event policy.*** Source(s): agent, 21+ years It's called event insurance or special event laibility insurance. it will not only cover the artwork but also liability insurance for anyone who may become injured while on the property for those days. Just use your search engine any type in special event insurance and your city and state and you will find all agents in your area with it available. An Inland Marine Insurance Policy should do the trick... It is a policy that covers movable property wherever located, including it's transportation to and from. Ask whomever has your commercial Liability Insurance if you are a business or ask the company that is insuring the luxury home. An Inland Marine Coverage can be included in a Homeowners Insurance Package Policy.
