Do you get charged any taxes or duties for importing goods to ireland?? |
Im thinking of buying a set of golf clubs from America for 鈧?00 will i get charged any taxes or duties when the clubs arrive in ireland??? yes you will unfortunatly.....its just a way to stop people from buying goods online and instead buy them in shops This is a grey area. If you are travelling back from the usa with them you would have to declare them at customs, however if you take the labels off them and get rid of any receipts you can say they are yours. As long as there is no proof that you bought them you should be ok. Importing them might incurr taxes but i would say that you wont have to pay any. The cost of 鈧?00 euros might be the factor of you incurring taxes, i am not sure what the cut off limit is. www.revenue .ie will give you all the information you need. You'll be charged VAT at 21% on the market value of the goods here...unless you can get someone to bring them back from a 'Golfing Holiday'? and Muddy them up a little......i've done in and it worked!!! wait.. let me tell you a story..my friend bought a joystick for an arcade machine from Asia a few months ago.. it was 70 euro, the postage was about 40 euro.. it took 5 days to get here and when it did, he got a phonecall from DHL saying that he had to collect it from their depot, and he better have 45 euro with him to pay the import duty he had to pay the money or they wouldn't give him the parcel.. this is all down to new guidelines that are meant to stop people buying from outside the EU, because internet shopping is so simple and costs only a fraction of the price.. that all the rip off merchants and retailers in Ireland and Europe are not able to make the huge fortunes off gullible shoppers the way they used to.. I would advise against buying them from the states unless you want to pay through the nose to get the post office to release them to you once they arrive Irish, born and bred |
