How do you pay the import tax on goods shipped to the Uk from the USA ? The shipping agent will send you a bill for the import tax when the goods arrive in this country and will not release them until you pay it. Normally the shipping agent (FedEx, UPS etc) pays it on your behalf, and you pay them (FedEx, UPS etc). In the UK, parcelforce will send you a letter telling you the amount and where your parcel is, you can either pay on the phone and have it delivered or go to the designated branch and pay and collect. I buy loads of stuff from the states and always pay and collect as soon as the tracking shows it in my local depot, usually before they even send the letter. Directly to the delivery agent. They will then release the goods to you. |
