Do you have to pay federal income taxes if you receive your spouses social security?

I am 65, still working with an income of $19,000 plus the SS check. Does the social security check count toward income for tax purposes? This is the first year I started to get this check. I am in Massachusetts if anyone knows about state taxes. Thanks for your help.

Yes, and yours is taxable, too. You are eligible to apply now, yourself. Source(s): http://www.heritage.org/research/socials...

I just realized you typed 19K and it's 25K whereupon it becomes taxable. Sorry about that!

Yes I do believe so that it would count toward income because you are getting money from the ss here is some info that may help you further.
