Anyone have an idea of how much income taxes I have to pay in NYC?? |
I just got a job and get paid about $32,000 a year. I am single and 24 years old. I have no dependants. I thought that I would have to pay around 30% but someone told me that I'll have to pay like 45% of my income to the government which is ridiculous (I hope). Anyone out there know a rough estimate?? I will not be able to sleep if that 45% figure is true.. so for anyone who can either relate or know what they're talking about, please give me some information. Thanks. I would be more concerned about the cost of living than paying taxes. You're single, so your looking at, roughly, $700-$1,000 rent for a decent one br studio, throw in another $150 for utilities (add $80 if you plan on having an internet line) and now you got yourself a $850-$1,150 a month studio just for living there. Now you gotta eat, unless you can stomach pantry mac&cheese and hotdogs everyday, expect to pay about $120 -$150 every couple of weeks for groceries at anyone of NYC finest overpriced supermarkets. Got any pets. That will narrow down your housing selection to some pretty undesirable locations. I hope your not financing a vehicle. Your vehicle payment, insurance, and gas prices alone will make your tenure in NYC very, very long. Got a girlfriend? Well, you'll need entertianed. Depending on your taste (and your budget) entertainment can run you as little as $5 to as much as $500 and up. I agree with Rose on the tax thing ... its a pretty cool site. Got any questions NY?
