Why do so many Americans pay Federal Income taxes when it's voluntary?


There is no law that requires Americans to pay federal income taxes and in the IRS tax code it even states it's voluntary so why do so many American's get audited and go to jail when there is no law backing up the IRS? How is it possible to convict anyone on tax evasion when they didn't do anything illegal?

Power of the government and court system.
Cause the IRS will freeze all of your assest and ruin your life. That is why.
It not voluntary and I just proudly paid my taxes. Taxes are what keeps this great nation working. Without taxes this nation would fall apart.
It's mandatory. It's in the Constitution.

Really? Explain that to the volunteers who come to take YOU away and get back to us with their answer.
It is law.
